MTV Builder - Version 1.0.8 DEMO Installation Instructions (for Windows 98, 95 and NT) April 15, 1998 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. To install Version 1.0.8 of the MTV Builder application, run Install.exe on the installation disk. When prompted for a license number, leave it blank to install a demo copy. 2. To run the MTV Builder application, simply double click on the MTV Builder icon labeled "MTV Builder V1" on the desktop. The installer also adds the MTV Builder shortcut to your Startup Menu. 3. The MTV Builder user interface is an easy to use, toolbar-based and menu-based interface. The toolbar uses standard buttons, and shows tool tips describing the function of each button along with key-stroke shortcurts. Menu selections and right-click capabilities complement the toolbar buttons. Some double-click actions and right-click actions are defined. Some of the buttons and input areas do show a description of thier function when the cursor is over the button or when a part is selected. The description shows up in the status bar (at the bottom of the window). 4. Online help is provided. Click the question mark on the toolbar to access online help or browse help outside the MTV Builder application by accessing it via the Start Menu. 5. Currently, the interface allows the user to specify message, group, field, and delimiter formats and properties for byte-based, bit-based, and mixed format messages. You can specify both ordered and unordered messages, but code generation currently supports only ordered messages. Report generation capabilities are provided for messages and message sets. Several different reporting perspectives are provided. Code and test case generation capabilities are also provided. The tool generates Ada '95 code to provide the message translation and validation, and testing capabilities. This Ada '95 code should run on any hardware platform where an Ada '95 compiler is available. Tested platforms include Windows 95/NT and Sun Solaris using the ObjectAda(tm) and GNAT(tm) compilers. MTV Server application generation capabilities are also available upon request. These stand alone servers provide the MTV functions via one of two standard interface mechanisms: CORBA or Database technologies. This capability requires the purchase of either ORBexpress(tm) and/or ADA_SQL_Connect(tm) both available from Objective Interface Systems. Call Accel for a demo of these MTV Builder add-on products. 6. The MTV Builder tool allows you to specify message formats and generate Ada 95 code. This generated code CANNOT be compiled and tested UNTIL the MTV foundation code is compiled into your Ada library. This foundation code was copied during installation to "c:\MTVBLD\CodeFoun". 7. The installation comes with a sample message set. To access the sample message set, follow the following steps. a. Run the MTV BUilder tool b. Select CHANGE MASTER MESSAGE SET under the MANAGER menu c. In the open dialog, double click on the samples folder d. Click on the file msgsets.mtv and click open This should provide some instant insight into the look and feel of the tool. 8.
